More about Maicol Borghetti
“My work is an archaeology of the future. Bronze figures that feel ancient and unrecognisable at once, as if excavated from a civilization that ran parallel to ours and left only its beauty behind.” - Maicol Borghetti
Maicol Borghetti (Pietrasanta, 1976) is a contemporary Italian sculptor. His ongoing project, The Archaeology of the Future, currently develops through the Mythos and Protos series. Bronzes conceived as artefacts of a civilization that has not yet existed: human, yet not quite ours. The figures carry no titles, no dates, no explanations: only a code, a certificate, and a photograph. His bronzes are cast at the Fonderia Artistica Versiliese in Pietrasanta, a foundry with over fifty years of history. He lives and works in Viareggio, where he founded StudioB19. In summer 2026 he will present Capri verdemare on the island of Capri, with Liquid art system.
