Wood, acrylic paint, and LED light: Peter Demetz’s lightboxes captivate with their extraordinary scenic minimalism. Micro-architectures that mark silent moments and intimate instants, the installations portray fleeting scenes whose intensity is condensed through the artist’s meticulous sculpting process. From Ortisei, Demetz continues to innovate within the traditional woodcarving heritage of the Val Gardena region.

The title of the exhibition takes its name from one of the works on display: a tender embrace by the sea between a mother and daughter. Playfulness and complicity, a snapshot overflowing with emotion, captured in an artistic fragment that embodies Demetz’s artistic research.

A Day with You is not only a shared day between the two protagonists of the work, but also the actual sense of time that the artist gives back to us through his sculptures. Peter Demetz invites us to observe and discover—to literally spend time with brief yet intense glimpses of relationships, feelings, reflections, and introspection, offering us a privileged perspective into intimate and private scenarios.

On Saturday, August 22, Liquid Art System will host the exhibition’s vernissage. The opening is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., with a toast in the presence of the artist. The exhibition will be visible till September 7.

Peter Demetz

Peter Demetz was born in Bolzano in 1969 and trained in the tradition of wood carving from Val Gardena. After graduating as a Master Sculptor, he developed a personal artistic language that combines craftsmanship with contemporary sensibility. His works mainly depict human figures carved in wood, often set within minimalist architectural spaces. The characters appear suspended in moments of waiting, interaction, and reflection. His artistic research explores the relationship between figure, space, light, and perception. The scenes are deliberately ambiguous: they do not tell a specific story but invite the viewer to imagine and interpret them. With meticulous attention to detail, Demetz transforms wood into a silent, almost cinematic reality. He has exhibited in Italy and abroad, establishing himself as one of the most interesting contemporary interpreters of figurative sculpture.
