Antonio Sannino: Everbloom Hanami
Hanami, the latest series of works by Maestro Antonio Sannino, draws inspiration from the Japanese tradition of the same name: the practice of observing and admiring beauty – the beauty of cherry blossoms in bloom, of colors that transform the landscape, and of the fleeting nature of all things.
The title chosen for the exhibition, “Everbloom Hanami”, therefore appears almost paradoxical. It tells the story of the seemingly impossible permanence of a fleeting moment of bliss and wonder – a moment that Sannino captures and preserves, defying the transience of the Sakura (cherry blossoms) and of ever-changing Nature, in his paintings on aluminum.
An everlasting bloom of visions, seascapes, and architectural impressions merges with blossoming branches. Amid turquoise transparencies, vivid colors, and delicately fading blossoms, Antonio Sannino fulfills the promise that a moment destined to disappear can instead be contemplated and remembered forever.
Antonio Sannino (Naples, 1959) is a contemporary Italian painter who lives and works between Naples and Rome. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples and spending an extended period in England, he developed an artistic practice focused on the contemporary landscape and the representation of the city.
His most recent works, executed in oil on treated aluminum coated with resin, transform urban views and natural landscapes into images suspended between reality and abstraction. Through aerial perspectives, luminous reflections, and an exceptionally smooth painted surface, Sannino creates compositions that evoke the visual complexity of contemporary perception.
His artistic research is distinguished by its ability to combine the traditions of figurative painting with technical experimentation, resulting in works characterized by remarkable luminosity and an immediately recognizable visual language.
He has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, and participated in the 54th International Art Exhibition – Venice Biennale. His work is widely collected in the United States, where he has maintained a strong presence for many years through art fairs in Miami, Palm Beach, and New York.
