Forest Guardian in Capri
Liquid Art System presents a new monumental artwork for public display in Capri, in the famous Piazzetta: it is “Forest Guardian” an aluminum and bronze sculpture by the Spanish duo Coderch & Malavia, depicting a stag with branched golden antlers cast in bronze.
A silent observer, the large-scale deer moves cautiously, with the grace of a contemporary leader surveying every detail: aware of its own fragility, it seeks space, sheltering itself from the relentlessness of the reality we live in, one that never stops. The sculpture has been installed today June 10, and will be on display just steps away from Piazza Umberto I, and it will remain there until mid-August.
Coderch&Malavia-the now world-famous Spanish duo-succeed in the miracle of making their sculptures look ancient and at the same time modern. In their work, however, there is no temptation to copy classical models, as other contemporary artists do. On the contrary, their greatness is precisely in inventing new forms, first shaping the material and then making it eternal in bronze. Thus are born sculptures of rare beauty, in which the truth of the bodies depicted is enhanced, in which movement and perfection of gesture are sublimely captured. The women acquire an absolute lightness and the muses seem to move in the water or remain suspended happily in the air, as if the present moment could be stopped.
